Known for flexibility and abrasion-resistance, this type 304 6×19 wire rope is the perfect general use steel cable and can be used for many applications, including as hoisting rope, suspension cables, winch lines, and more. It offers more corrosion-resistance than galvanized wire rope but less than type 316 (316 is considered marine-grade). It’s a great choice for most jobs where rust-protection is needed because, while it isn’t quite as resistant as type 316, it is a stronger wire and it’s generally more cost-effective.
The class of this wire rope is 6×19. These numbers nominally refer to the construction of the wire rope – the number of outer strands around the core and an estimation of the number of wires within each of these outer strands. So for a 6×19 class, the number of outer strands is 6, and the number of wires making up each strand ranges from 15-26. Compared to a 6×37 class, the 6×19 configuration offers better abrasion-resistance; however, it is less flexible and fatigue-resistant.
The independent wire rope core (IWRC) provides more support than a fiber core – it’s more resistant to crushing and is better suited for high temperature applications. Their general temperature range is between -40F / -40C and 400F / 204C.
Complete your wire rope assembly – we also carry wire rope fittings and rigging hardware, including wire rope clips and wire rope thimbles. Make sure to get type 304 accessories – choosing a dfferent finish / material could result in an adverse reaction between the components.
